Lord, what hell-bred beasts are these
That summon us to war!
Lunging from their secret lairs with
Razor-maws a-blazing!
Had I but fetched my vorpal blade
I'd certain forestalled a hazing!
Avast! Engage not this fiend's malicious eyes:
Surprise! It hasn't none.
Thou foolish knight brought down to size:
A monster? Aye ‑‑ a wee bit one!

ReplyDeleteSurprise! It hasn't none." HAHAHAHA! For some reason I found the idea of an eyeless-monster so comedic. Shouldn`t that frighten me? Oh well, I liked that line nonetheless.
Yup, I found the lines hilarious too, I don't think the purpose was to frighten us. I enjoyed this short mock-heroic biology-infused very much indeed.
ReplyDeletejust a dose of shameless self-promotion: some of my pix. but rotifers really are quite voracious and vicious. and thanks to lewis carroll, of course.
