The Weight of Your Waist

The weight of your waist in
My arms
You turn about, back arching.
The light
In your eyes, shining,
Shining.

When we were otherwise
Sometime
In some other lifetimes.
Spider web's
Silky connections keep us
Reeling.

The taste of your mouth
And heat,
Your feet executing
Light steps,
And your hair swirling,
Swirling:
Must always draw me back
To you.

  1. Nice one- elegant, concise, powerful. The one-word verse cut-in thingamabob actually works here as opposed to being a boost to the author's self-esteem, if you know what I mean. They carry powerful tone, like a whisper in a hall of silence, words sneaking fairy tale lullabies into your ears that turn out not so lullaby after all, after all the years when she's dead and you look down onto the coffin and you realize there's been brandy in the bottle. The web's connections metaphor was very refreshing and actually, pretty crafty. Love as a web that connects us in perfect unity. But a web, alas, can so easily be destroyed by the hand of a careless youth as he storms through the woods, unheeding to the life besides him.
