valedictorian delusions and dreams; mick said you
get what you need. but a starry gulf divides
living from subsisting. what demons tangle
life strings and wind time's bed sheets, what villains
shave off waxy curls of destiny with diamond-edged
microtomes of self-interest and greed? all those
couldabeens-shouldabeens-wouldabeens
every instant, every day,
slipping further and further
away.
