every word an embrace
every sentence a kiss
every page an hour seeped in another's
interstellar eyes, penetrating, a brave
nosedive into boundlessly ballooning,
infinitely regressing depth, every
conversation a blessed, secret rendezvous
within arm's reach or less of paradise,
occasions of a thousand lovers' passions,
in certain determination, intent concentration,
resolved to rend a humdrum, superficial world
where left and right the sleepers still linger
and malinger, blindly pursuing life's latent voltage
undreamable and undreamt,
and woefully under-tapped
through spinning night to yawning dawn,
day by day, year by year,
you and i in secret met, again,
again and again, while all of those others
so unlucky, never having even exchanged
one carefully selected and constructed
resonant, reverberative, tolling bell-note of
a great and heroic, clarion-voiced love:
