you
busy people with
your big people lives
hectic in the soup and
soap and folding
clothes and washing
dishes while friendly
eager souls go rolling
and tumbling in the
dust bowl wind outside
they're here right now
but they're all too
quickly gone
again
"Eager souls go tumbling in the dust bowl." Stunning imagery. There's such a vibrant sense of youth and joy here. It's like watching baby birds fly for the first time. You know that one of them is bound to crash and die, but still, you watch, if only because you know that another one will fly free.
ReplyDeleteI like the rhythm and flow of this piece. It starts low, goes galloping on and then descends with the 'again'. It almost forms a sort of frame composition, you might have try to squeeze 'again' in the beginning too to emphasize the cycle. Eager souls rolling in dust bowl wind- nice imagery and so delightfully ambiguous. On one hand- energy and liveliness. On the other- dust symbolizing infertility, old age, decay emphasizing the passing of happiness and the ennui of everyday life.
